It provides unlimited room for

future expansion without purchase of private property.

(6).

It enables the Railway Administra-

-tion to control the Kowloon Terminus of the Ferry Service

in connection with the Railway, and to obtain a share in

the profits of the traffic either by a toll on the pass-

-engers or otherwise.

(7).

It provides a cheap and satis-

-factory means of laying a siding to the premises of the

Wharf and Godown Company and to Messrs. Butterfield and

Swire's Warehouses, without unduly cutting up Salisbury

Road and other adjacent Roads with crossings or sacrific-

-ing very valuable building sites.

(1).

The objections to the scheme are:-

The lengthening of the Ferry

Service. It is true that the crossing from Victoria will be

4 minutes longer, but this is discounted by the saving of

time in getting a train alongside the Ferry Pier.

(2).

Exposed site for the Ferry Pier

and possible need for protecting it. The site will be more

exposed than is the pier of the Star Ferry Company at

Tsim Sha Tsui and the pier that under Scheme II would have

to be built at Nathan Road; but it is not anticipated that

protection
